You should use Google Chrome for primary QA. Occasionally you will be asked to use Firefox or Edge. You should NOT use Safari.
On Chrome, you should set up three profiles, one for your authoring account, one for your student account, and one for your instructor account. This is needed to accurately test the different functionalities and features of Torus, and to not get any issues by being logged into the wrong account type.
Your chrome profiles should end up looking something like this. Make sure you clearly label what each of the profiles are for. I would also recommend customizing each profile with a different color, that way you can clearly tell which account you should be in.
Unless you have three separate email addresses, I recommend using a variation of your ASURITE email. Since my ASURITE is [email protected], I would do the following:
This should make it so you can easily remember your email. Note that you might not get the email confirmation for each of these emails. Instead, you should ask Mia or Kevin to “approve” these accounts (if needed) once you have created them.
As you will quickly learn, there are a LOT of Torus environments. Argos/Torus Environments has descriptions of all of them, but the general gist is:
Argos QA is the testing environment for ASU, this is where you will do most testing for both general tickets and QA before a release.
Argos Stage is the staging environment, which we only use to do the last two rounds of QA before a release.
Argos Prod is the production environment, where we have live students enrolled in courses. You will often only do testing here to make sure that new issues found in QA do not also occur in Prod.
Make sure you are in your authoring profile on Chrome. Go to https://torus.qa.argos.education/, click on Authoring Sign In, then create an account using your [email protected] email address. Then bookmark this tab and call it Argos QA. Repeat this process both for Argos Prod and Argos Stage (if available).
Now switch to your student profile, go to each of these sites, click on Learner/Educator Sign In, and create new student accounts on each site.
Finally, switch to your instructor profile, go to each of these sites, and follow the same steps for Learner/Educator sign in. Once you have created your instructor account, slack Mia and give her the instructor email address you used, so she can convert that account to instructor.
